Captain’s Club FALL 2017 SAILING PROGRAM is underway! Offered FREE to children under the Department of Human Services (DHS) foster custody, foster youth who participate in the Captain’s Club program “enhance their self image by learning and experiencing life at sea”!
What: FREE Halloween SAIL!! (Costume attire allowed!)
Who: Foster Youth!!
When: THIS Sunday, October 29th, 2017
Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Where: Keehi Lagoon Small Boat Harbor (off Sand Island Access Road, Honolulu). Directions are located on the website at www.captainsclubhi.org.
Aboard: Free Spirit, a 48’ Ketch rigged trimaran
Snacks: Yes! Healthy snacks provided!
The Captain’s Club (captainsclubhi.org) is offering youth ages 10 to 16 under DHS foster custody a free sailing course and ocean related life experience.
The “Mates Achievement Program” will run through the end of the year. It is an introduction to sailing course consisting of 4 classes, combining dock-side learning and cruises aboard a sailing vessel. End of year course dates follow:
· Sunday November 26th, 2017
· Sunday December 16th, 2017
The lesson plan covers knowledge of ocean safety, basic sailing terminology and skills and teamwork development. For more details, please view our 12 module Sailing Manual, downloadable from our website at www.captainsclubhi.org.
Referral Process: To refer a youth, please complete and return registration and waiver writable PDF forms to this email address, or, if you don’t have PDF access, please complete a printed version of the forms and return (scanned) by email or mail to the P.O. Box indicated on the registration form. DHS Social Workers are required to sign the forms.
